TRAVELLING HOME

Videoinstallation 2004

This is a videoinstallation, where a 60 minutes long video is shown with two projections of different sizes, at opposite walls. It runs at different places in the video.

The videotaping is done driving three times through a tunnel, called the Lærdalstunnel, that is 25 kilometers long.

I am driving home to visit my family, with my own family in the car, and playing a CD with old children songs.

I did put on some texts of my own to describe the concept, and translated some of the songtexts as well for the same purpose. This is to make a connection between the present and the past, the myth or tradition and "the real life".

It is all about travelling home-to the family, your new home, the memories, your old patterns, and about the meeting between reality and illusion.
